The Thirty-Ninth Annual Chattanooga Chase
The Chattanooga Chase is the oldest road race in Chattanooga and was run from the Riverview Park on Memorial Day, May 29th, 2006. The Chattanooga Track Club put on the race with the assistance of the Chattanooga Kiwanis Club. The race benefits the Volunteer Offender Reconciliation Program, a program to rescue juvenile offenders who have committed lesser crimes. It was chartered in Chattanooga by members of the Kiwanis Club, and Kiwanians are active on its board. This program has been remarkably successful with a 5% recidivism rate against the usual 50%.
